I was rushed to the hospital a day ago with heavy bleeding following a miscarriage 2 months ago. Initially we though it was retained product but after doing a Doppler scan revealed I. Have an AVM to the uterus which I was told is very rare. I don’t have children yet and really want them. Doctors are not sure of best method to treat this without comprising fertility .
I’m currently on medication to the clot the blood to prevent heavy bleeding but I continue to bleed and clot still . They want to treat me conservatively on meds fir now Any advice for longterm treatment ?
You may want to type "uterine avm" in the upper right search box. You'll find other discussions related to having a uterine AVM. That is a good place to start. Then you can connect with others who have uterine AVM. Good luck!
Dear lulu , I have a extensiveAVM from my pelvis downwards internally which also is on the top of my uterus . I have had bleeds since I was very young .
In the last 10 years or so I think the most non evasive treatment is sclerosing and embolisation coils for AVMs . I have had both done myself . Have you seen a vascular surgeon ? Did they say how big it is ?
Have you had a MRI ?
Good luck lulu . Lis
I had an embolisation done after my AVM ruptured 2 weeks after the birth of my daughter . 2 MRI’s later show it has resolved and I’m clear to have more children with close monitoring. Good luck… Find a really great doctor
