Sleeping issues after surgery!

Well since the surgery i can’t seem to sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time. I am exhausted. I don’t know if i am afraid to sleep for long periods of times or if i just can’t sleep. Any one else go through this after surgery.

Tonna I did. For me, at first it was the super vivid dreams that I think were, in part, due to the medications I was on in the hospital. Once I got home I still had a hard time. It took me a really long time to fall asleep and then I would wake up several times a night. For me it lasted a really long time, like well over a year. What I found helped me was doing yoga during the day, really exercise of any kind helped. Also, I had to keep something covering my eyes. I had ghost images even when my eyes were closed. (Not actual ghosts, but images of what I was seeing before I closed my eyes…hard to explain.) Also, I needed to only go to bed when I was completely exhausted, which wasn’t difficult as I think we’re all exhausted after surgery. I had thought about getting an over the counter sleep aid but I was afraid of what it would do to an already loopy brain. All I can say is that over a long time, it got easier and easier and now I have no trouble. If you’re not getting your sleep at night, at least try to work in a nap during the day if it’s possible. Your body needs rest now. I don’t know if that helped, but I do hope you work this out soon!
